Party like a Celebrity (on a Family Budget)

airline party, Guest Post

Summer time is upon us! Arianna Pierce from http://ariannaknowsbest.blogspot.com/ has provided this fun post on how to Party Like a Celebrity this summer (but on a family budget.)

Before kids, I remember summers lounging on a beach chair by a quiet pool with a fruity cocktail in hand. Now that I have kids, the closest I get to a fabulously glamorous summer is what I see on TV or in a glossy magazine.

After a few conversations with some of my fellow moms, we decided to think up ways to capture that carefree feeling again, albeit with a family-friendly twist. After all, the photographers catch those celebrity moms having a good time, so why can’t we?

Film Festival

Celebrity Summer: Cannes Film Festival
Elegant gowns, Hollywood’s most beautiful stars and the movies all converge in the South of France for a 10-day gala. They dine on caviar, sip champagne and share stories of their favorite directors and co-stars while being treated to swag bags one can only dream of.

Reality Summer: International Film Festival at Home
cannesIn order to avoid the hassle of having to charter a private jet, host your own film festival in your own backyard. Rent a projector and play your favorites movies while everyone lounges on picnic blankets or big, comfy pillows. Kids can make their own edible candy necklaces with cookies, pretzels and more while sipping on lemonade. Adults may like to sit back and snack on savory popcorn with limoncello, sangria or beer.

Music Festival

Celebrity Summer: Coachella Music Festival
Once known more for its indie rock scene, Coachella has become the unofficial start of summer for young celebrities. This three-day music and arts festival is a great place to listen to music by Green Day, look at amazing art installations and watch for what stars like Vanessa Hudgens and Alessandria Ambrosio are wearing.

Reality Summer: Backyard Bonfire
bonfireSet up your outdoor space with speakers, lanterns and a fire pit for a lower-decibel music event. Ask guests to bring their favorite summer playlist and dance in your bare feet or roast marshmallows over the fire. To bring the boho chic, kids can have fun applying temporary tattoos or making their own tie-dye shirts

Summer Birthday Parties

Celebrity Summer Birthday Party: No-Expense Spared Kid Party
Magazines are full of pictures from amazing parties for celebrity kids. Kourtney Kardashian organized a party with a carousel, petting zoo and a train set for her son’s first birthday. Tom Cruise’s daughter, Suri, celebrated her second birthday with a dinner catered by world famous chef, Wolfgang Puck.

Reality Summer Birthday Party: DIY “Around the World” Party
invite
Send out invitations that look like airline tickets and give the guests a passport as they come through the door. Each activity can highlight a different country, like a piñata from Mexico or a kangaroo hop race from Australia. Decorate goodie bags to look like suitcases, hand out lunch packaged up like airline food and make place-mats out of maps!

You may be chased by toddlers instead of paparazzi, but, with a little ingenuity, you can still party like a rock star!
